Mary Beth Moody

Mrs. Mary Beth O'Neil Moody, age 67, of Covington, died Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Moody was born September 17, 1957 in Virginia, the daughter of the late William Frank O'Neil and Mary Hardy O'Neil. A true loving and giving person, she had a genuine heart and passion for taking care of others. Mary Beth loved her family and friends fiercely and was always willing to stand up for them and protect them. She was known for doing anything for anyone and could be found paying for other people's groceries in line at local stores when she felt that they needed it. An excellent cook, she made wonderful meals and treats for her family and loved celebrating the holidays with her family especially Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special events. One of the things she cherished most was every evening, she enjoyed watching television programs especially Supernatural, with her daughter and "soul friend", Katie. Mrs. Moody loved doing her morning devotions and considered Good News Church her spiritual home as well as her family.
Mrs. Moody is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Smith Mundy and husband, Chris of Covington and Katie O'Neil Smith of Covington; two grandchildren, Kierstin Paige Mundy and Jayden Christopher Mundy; a sister, Margaret (Meg) O'Neil Crawford and husband, Jeff; and two nephews, Lucas William Crawford and wife, Ashley and Garrett O'Neil Crawford.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by a sister, Jan Hardy O'Neil.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Linda Kagarise officiating.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
