Billy L. Turner

Billy Turner, 86, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born on December 22, 1938, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Artis Turner and Maude Ramsey Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty H. Turner; his daughter, Anita Massey Stuart; his stepdaughter, Michelle Lilly Bassett; two sisters, Betty Turner and Shirley Turner; and one brother, Wesley Turner.

Billy dedicated his career to the furniture industry, retiring as a supervisor. An avid fisherman, he found his greatest joy on the water and often participated in local tournaments. He had a deep love for his dogs, especially his loyal companion, Gizmo, who was always by his side. Billy also took great pride in keeping his lawn well-maintained.

He is survived by his son, Ronnie Turner; his daughter, Penny Foley; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Ted Turner officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
