Kathy Gearheart Smith

Kathy Gearheart Smith, 70, of Roanoke passed away on March 12, 2025.

A native of Virginia she was the wife of the late Stephen Smith; and daughter of Charles and Phyllis Gearheart. Kathy was a graduate of Andrew Lewis High School class of 1972. She retired as an office administrator after working for Rep. Morgan Griffith at the Virginia House of Delegates and the US House of Representatives. She was once active with the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of the Greater Blue Ridge.

Kathy was an animal lover that enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and camping with her husband Steve. She also enjoyed music and concerts.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Diana Gearheart; brother, Chuck Gearheart; sister in law, Jennifer Gearheart; son, Jake Smith; grandsons, Caleb, Ethan, and Micah Smith; and numerous brothers and sisters in law, nephews, and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brian Geiser officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family request that those in attendance dress casual.
