Rachel Tomlin Martin

Rachel Tomlin Martin, 72, of Madison Heights, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

Born on March 21, 1952 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. Tomlin and Bethel C. White. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, William Tomlin.

Rachel was a very loving and giving person which made her an amazing CNA, a job that she loved because she could help people. She was a strong woman with a heart of gold and loved her family. She was an amazing cook and spoiled her family over the years with a lot of delicious meals and treats. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her significant other of 42 years, Daniel Whittaker; two daughters, Sue Whittaker (Jessie Cowden) and Danielle Whittaker (Randall Whiddifield); sister, Vickie Childress (Dennis); and her grandchildren, Brianna Turner, Christian Turner, Alonna Newton, Cheyanne Newton and Alexander Cowden.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
