James Eddy Fetter

James Eddy Fetter, 87, of Martinsville, VA, passed away on May 15, 2025, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. He was born on September 19, 1937, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late Edna Myers Fetter and Joseph Austin Fetter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Huffman Fetter, son, Keith Fetter, sister, Joan F. Whitacre

He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Virginia Tech University. He taught vocational education in Shenandoah County, Henrico County, Pittsylvania County, and Martinsville High School for a total of eleven years. He worked in the industry for thirty-three years working for Virginia Union and DuPont companies.

Surviving includes brother, Robert K. Fetter (Mary); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Fetter and three grandchildren, Amanda K. Fetter (Chris), Joseph A. Fetter (Amber), and Megan F. Fetter (Davey); great-grandchildren, James Hill, Alyssa Hill, Emma Fetter, Grayson Fetter, Sadie Sizemore, Adaline Sizemore, and Blaine Sizemore.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Martinsville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Martinsville with Rev. John Fulcher officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Roselawn Abbey.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, SPCA of Martinsville and Henry County, The American Cancer Society, or to the American Heart Foundation.
