Betty Farris Milliron Carper

November 15, 1934 - May 15, 2025

Betty Milliron Carper, 90, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 15, 1934, to the late Brandard and Betty McGuire Farris, she is also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Dillard Milliron, Sr.; second husband, Aaron Brandt Carper; grandson, Joshua Thomas Holley; granddaughters, Carol Padgett Richards, Crystal Gale Sink and Erin Leigh Farris.

Betty was one tough lady. She was generous and kind and would give the shirt off her back if she knew someone needed it. She worked many years at Tultex, but back in the day, she worked for the long-gone Malibu Restaurant once on East Main Street, East Salem Elementary School Cafeteria, and many knew her from the Pancake House on Apperson Drive. She enjoyed the trips to Florida with her late husband, Roy. Betty loved to work in her garden and canning and preserving fruits and vegetables for the winter months. At Christmastime, she made candy for family and friends. She loved her grandkids more than anything; they always knew they could come to her no matter what they may have done. When asked if there was anything Betty ever needed, her response was always, “a million dollars”; this is now a cherished family joke. She was a clever song writer and wrote a song their family still sings together to this day, “The Man Who Died for You and Me”; her family will share it at her service.

Those remaining to cherish her memory, are her children, Aaron “Danny” Farris and wife, Melba, Rita Layne and partner, James Forson, Roy Milliron, Jr. and former wife, Lisa, Belinda Sink, and Marilyn Holley Woods and husband, Randy; step-children, Misty Carper, Amanda Carper, Aaron Carper, Jr., and Dianna Seatten; grandchildren, Dustin Sink, Travis Rector and wife, Nita, Chris Farris and wife, Cindy and Shawn Farris; great grandchildren, Nikki Farris Stephens and husband, Joey, Chase Farris, Chance Farris, Krissie Farris and Allan, Kaylan Taylor and husband, Chance, Shaleen Inman and husband, Steve, Divis Richards, Bowe Richards, Hunter Richards, Brian Richards ;great- great grandchildren, Layla Wooten, Mariah Stephens, Conner Stephens, Kayla Rector, Abigail Robertson, Kelsey Rector, and Gwendolyn Faith Russell; as well as the Utt family, the extended family of Roy Milliron.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Life Abundant Church, 424 Chamberlain Lane, Salem, with Pastor J.R. Shelor officiating.
