Warren "Butch" Lee Hastings
Warren “Butch” Lee Hastings, 77, of Appomattox, VA, passed away peacefully at his home, where he had lived since 1988, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on August 24, 1947, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Butch was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and steady presence touched everyone who knew him. On January 7, 1966, he married the love of his life, Patricia “Patti” Hastings. Their bond was a beautiful testament to enduring love — Patti’s words, “’Til death do us part, for a little while,” reflect the deep connection they shared.
Butch spent his career with Hometown Rentals in Appomattox, where he was known for his hard work and friendly spirit. After retiring, he embraced the joys of life, spending his days doing what he loved most — riding his Harley, golfing, fishing with his sons, and enjoying cookouts and quality time with his family at his daughter's home.
He was a proud and loving father to three children: Benjamin Hastings and his wife Dawn of Holly Springs, NC; Lora Snoddy and her husband Barry of Arvonia, VA; and Shawn David Hastings and his wife Teresa of Appomattox, VA. His legacy continues through his 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild expected in December. He is also survived by his brother, Roger M. Hastings; one sister-in law, Barbara Hastings; one brother-in-law, Fred Averill.
Butch was a man of faith and an active member of Journey Ministries in Appomattox, and formerly of Living Water Ministries. His gentle strength, faithfulness, and devotion to his family and community will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by, two siblings, Creighton J. Hastings and Janet H. Averill.
A graveside service will be held at 1 pm, June 7, 2025, at Herman Methodist Cemetery, Appomattox, VA.
Friends are welcome to visit at the residence following the service in honor of Butch’s memory.
The family welcomes flowers and plants which may be delivered to their home as a gesture of remembrance and comfort during this difficult time.
