Dean Carson Sheppard

March 7, 1957 - May 28, 2025

Dean Carson Sheppard, age 68, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Dean was a man of creativity, warmth, and heart. For many years, Dean worked as a Plant Manager at Salem Frame Co. for Rowe Furnishings, where he was admired for his leadership, work ethic, and dedication.

Beyond his career, he was a man of many passions. He was a naturally talented guitarist, often filling the room with music. He had a deep love for music and found great joy in playing the guitar. Whether he was strumming a tune on the porch, or playing just for fun, music was one of the ways he connected with those around him. Dean also had a passion for fishing and cherished the peace and quiet of a day spent fishing by the water. He was a gifted artist and natural painter. He created countless remarkable paintings in his lifetime, many being of the place he loved to be the most, the beach.

Those who knew him will remember his quick wit and infectious sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh- sometimes with a clever remark, sometimes with pure goofiness, but always with love.

Dean treasured his role as “Pa Pa” to his grandchildren. He was always ready with a story, a smile, or a warm hug. His love for his family was unwavering, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving and devoted partner, Cyndi Curl (CC); his children, Michael Sheppard and his wife Anouk; his daughter, Amy Sheppard (lovingly known as “Peep”); and his beloved grandchildren, Madison Sheppard and Hendrix Dean. He also leaves behind his brother, Greg Sheppard.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Neighbors Sheppard; his mother, Mary Arleen Hanson (Fields); and his father, Dean Carson Sheppard.

Dean was a devoted father, a loving partner, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend. His gentle spirit, creativity, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 6th at 5:00pm at Dean’s residence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dean’s memory by taking a moment to enjoy the simple things, donating to Dorsey’s closet, or a cancer organization of your choice.
