Edna Shell

July 16, 1936 - June 5, 2025

Edna Shell Edna Virginia LaFon Shell, of Narrows, VA., left this earthly home to travel to a new home called heaven on Thursday, June 5, 2025.  Edna was born on July 16, 1936, in Millboro Springs, VA., and was a daughter of the late Ray Brown LaFon and Edna Josephine Neff LaFon.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Noble Hawkins Shell, Jr., a son, Randall W. Lafon and 2 sisters, Ilda Ezlee French and Stella Jane LaFon Meadows.

Edna loved her family, and the time spent with them especially the daily calls.  The grandchildren were her life’s gems.  She loved her church and served as worship chairperson for many years.  She was so proud to be leader of The Early Bird Circle at her church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Richard LaFon (Loretta) of Rich Creek, Lewis LaFon (Tammy) of Radford, 2 step-children, Robert Shell of Houston, TX, Diana S. Phillips of Chicago, IL, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren a sister, Carlene Marshall of Dinwiddie and 2 wonderful sisters-in-law, Jean Hall of Geronimo, OK, Paula Counts and special neighbors and wonderful church friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. Taylor Hines officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Home, Saturday evening from 6 – 8 pm.  The burial will be held Monday, June 9, 2025, at 11am at the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA.
