Gene Ronald Pigg
Mr. Gene Ronald Pigg, 83, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia, on February 20, 1942.
Ron was a man of unwavering character, dedicating himself to his faith and community. He was an active and beloved member and Deacon of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, where his presence brought comfort and fellowship to many. His passion for mentorship and developing young men was evident through his long and impactful service with the Boy Scouts of America. As both a dedicated scout leader and a proud Eagle Scout himself, he shaped the lives of many, instilling values of leadership, integrity, and self-reliance. He also dedicated his time to civic involvement as a member of the Jaycees. In his professional life, Ron was a respected business owner in furniture and manufacturing, known for his dedication and work ethic. Outside of his work, he had a keen eye for style; he always enjoyed dressing well and was known for his infectious humor and quick wit, often delighting those around him with a well-told joke.
Above all, Ron was a truly exceptional father who guided his children with love and tirelessly put his family's needs before his own. He was a devoted husband, a supportive son, and a loyal friend to a wide circle. His legacy of service, love, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who loved him.
