Darrell L. Mitchem

Darrell L. Mitchem, age 57, of Hurt, Virginia, passed away on July 15, 2025, at his mother’s residence surrounded by loved ones.

Mr. Mitchem was born on March 16, 1967, in Forest City, North Carolina to the late Robert Leslie Mitchem and Linda Stewart Tribby, who survives.

Mr. Mitchem was a member of Pathway church and worked for Dan River Mills for 18 years up until its closing. He also loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, and working in the shop with his stepdad Jerry.

Mr. Mitchem is survived by his mother, Linda Tribby; stepfather, Jerry Tribby; sisters, Barbara Williamson and Shannon Saunders; niece, Leanna Mitchem; nephews, DJ Creasey, Bobby Creasey, and Tyler Creasey.

In addition to his father, he is predeceased by his brother, Harold Mitchem.

Memorial services for Mr. Mitchem will be conducted on Monday July 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Norris Funeral Services with Pastor Joe Hopkins officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

At other times Mr. Mitchem’s mother, Mrs. Tribby, will have friends and family at her residence.
