Almeta Craghead Angel

Almeta Craghead Angel, 95 of Bedford, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Spring Oak - Elks National Home.  She was born on Monday, October 21, 1929  in Roanoke, VA, a daughter of the late Ellet J. Craghead and Bessie Conner Craghead.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, James Edward Angel.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Angel & husband, Keith Campbell, Brenda Phillips and Sherry Marker and her son, Mark Angel.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and a brother, Paul D. Craghead. 

Almeta retired from Peoples Furniture Co., as a Home Fashion Consultant.  She was a member of  Main Street United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Bedford/Lynchburg Elks Lodge # 321.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 212 East Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523 or a charity of your choice.

The family will receive relatives & friends beginning at 10 AM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Dawn Compton officiating.  Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
