Matthew Thomas Dooley was born on October 10, 1975, to Maureen Fitzgerald Wood and Thomas Dooley in Plainview, NY. Matthew’s work life was behind the wheel of heavy wreckers and tow trucks. Most recently he enjoyed working for Bell’s Towing and loved his job. In his free time, he enjoyed racing, horses, and spending time with his family. Especially on derby day! Matt resided in Willis since his moving to Virginia in 2014. Matt and Tina knew they had met the love of their lives in 2015. They were married on September 7, 2024. Matt was easy-going, happy, and never met a stranger. Matt was preceded in death by his Pops: Thomas Patrick Fitzgerald; Gram: Margaret Mary Carmen; Patrick Fitzgerald, Jr., and Kathleen Ann O’Rourke. He is survived by Mother: Maureen Fitzgerald Wood; his father and step-mother: Thomas Dooley and Linda Seeback; brother: Brian Dooley (Jamie); sister: Amanda Wood; his beloved wife: Tina Vaughn Dooley; his loved children: Matthew Reinhardt, Kristen Faulk (Dooley) and Daniel Faulk; his pride and joy fur babies: Buster, “Shop Cat”, Jake, and his quarter horse Bullitt; aunts and uncles: Eilleen & Jimmy Pangarliotas, Peggy Breton, Virginia & Billy Donlan, Mary Ann & Steve Brennan, Richard Dooley, Patty & John Campbell, Jane Baumgarten and many cousins. father and mother-in-law who loved him as their own: Tom & Sandra Vaughn; Brothers & Sisters-in-Law: John & Amber Vaughn, Sharon & Darrell Quesenberry, Laura Lynne & Clay Coffey; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 2PM at Gardner Funeral Home with Roy Bentley and Ann Boyd Officiating. Interment will follow in Hylton-Vaughn Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Flowers are appreciated but donations are also welcome to New Harvest Ministries in Matthew's memory.
Matthew was a good-hearted man who had an amazing laugh, and his huge heart will be missed by many. Until we meet again Matthew. We know the reunions that are going on in Heaven right now, and we will join you when our time comes.
