Thomas Floyd Carter
Thomas “Tom” Floyd Carter, 79, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 4, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Evelyn Carter; younger brother, Eddie Carter; son-in-law, Michael Freshwater; and sister-in-law, Joyce Carter.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sherie Carter; children, Michelle Freshwater, Lisa Moore (Michael), Brian Chocklett, and Nikki Chocklett; grandchildren, Jennifer, Rachel, Annabelle, Miriam, Penley, Hayley, and Makiya; great grandsons, Liam and Waylen; brother, David Carter Jr.; best friends, Pete and Nethelda Walters; and dogs, Jazz, Toca, and Smokey.
Tom lived a life of love, honesty, and respect. He was definitely a one of a kind man. He touched many lives throughout his journey, from the Air Force to his time as a Deisel Mechanic for Kroger’s and for Valley Transport where he managed the garage. Upon disability, he opened a small business with his wife for 25 years. Tom loved playing pool, hunting, fishing, working on his cabin, and spending time with family and friends. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He never missed a good meal and had an obsession for DODGE vehicles as he owned 7 different trucks, 2 Challengers, and 2 Chargers during his elderly years. He recently enjoyed his new adopted dog, Trixie.
The Family will have a Visitation on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 2:00 -3:00 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 3:00 pm also at Simpson Funeral Home (Peters Creek). After the service, the family invites guests to a Celebration of Life Gathering at The Wolf’s Den Billiards, 4822 Hollins Road, Roanoke, VA 24019, where guests will make purchases on their own.
