Jerry "Ring" Wilson Atkins

Jerry Wilson “Ring” Atkins, age 69 of Ferrum died Saturday, August 16, 2025. Papa Ring was born November 23, 1955 and was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gladys Atkins; brothers, Jimmy, Jessie, Joel and Justin Atkins; son, Jonathan Atkins; and granddaughter, Laykin Davis. Jerry was a family loving, music loving, beer drinking friend to all who never met a stranger. To know him was to love him. Surviving are his wife, Hilda “Susie” Atkins; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Hale (Steve); son, James “Rooster” Atkins (Shelli); step-son, Toby Chaney (Sabrina); grandkids, Kelsey Davis, Danielle Hale, Austin Dials, Nevada Atkins, Chaze Chaney; four great-grandkids, Kenzky Davis, Colton Midkiff, Emma Midkiff, Gracie Cockram; seven nieces and nephews; special long-time friends and ex-wife, Velma and Ronnie Cockram; special cousins and long-time friends, Jackie, Mont, Lane and Rodney. Special thanks to Hannah and the whole team with Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their help and support. A graveside service will be held at the Boyd Family Cemetery (Ike Road, Ferrum) 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
