Denny Wilson Van Buren

Denny W. Van Buren, Jr., 85, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born on January 15, 1940, to the late Martha Norvell and Denny Van Buren, Sr.

Denny was a member of First Church in Roanoke and served as a Deacon for over ten years. He was proud to have gone on several mission trips with the church. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force. Denny loved to sit on his back porch and watch the deer graze in his backyard. He also enjoyed his chestnut trees along with his fruit trees. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Van Buren.

He is survived by his stepsons, Kim Morrell and wife, Elizabeth, and Keith Morrell and wife, Diane; step-grandchildren, Matthew Morrell, Cade Morrell, and Annie Bryant.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held with military funeral honors being rendered by the U.S. Air Force at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. He will be interred privately at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.

Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
