Maurice Lee Lovern
Maurice Lee Lovern, age 75, of Danville went to be with the Lord on August 17, 2025 after recent years of declining health.
Born in Roanoke, VA on November 21, 1949, he was preceded in death by his father, Mosie Palmer Lovern and mother Margaret King Lovern. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mark Ellis Lovern and Michael Patrick Lovern.
A devoted husband of 57 years, a loving father and a devout Christian, Maurice is survived by his wife, Trudy Lovern, his three sons, Chris Lovern (Amy), Kent Lovern (Whitney), Eric Lovern (Cathy), one brother, Wayne “Meredith” Lovern (Sue), a sister, Marianna Wilmoth (Richard), and 6 grandchildren, Baylee Stanfield (Darren), Zack Lovern (Bailey), Mason Lovern, Kaiden Lovern, Chyler Lovern, Graysen Lovern, and step grandchildren Maddie, Olivia (Matt), Carly, Ryan (Hunter) and Kenzie (Jackson) and a sweet little great grand baby Weston “Sweet Cheeks” of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Maurice attended Dan River High School where he received his high school diploma. He was last employed as a Property Manager with Phillips Edison and Co. until retirement in 2001 due to failing health. He also served in the National Guard and was a former member of the Danville Life Saving Crew.
He spent countless days sitting in his chair with his dog Lexi whom he loved. Above all of his accomplishments, the most important thing to him was family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 11:00am at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Reverend David Abernathy officiating. A visitation will be held immediately following the service also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Mount Hermon Fire and Rescue, 4268 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540, or Dan River Church Missions at 2805 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA 24540.
