Lillie Della Cannon Wilson
Lillie Della Cannon Wilson, 96, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Rockingham, North Carolina, to the late Tony Cannon and Lillie Mills Cannon. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Robert Wilson, Sr; grandparents, Rufus and Jenny Mills; daughter, Shirley Malloy; son, Alexander Wilson; two grandsons, Lysander Stockton and Jeremiah Wilson, Jr.; one great-grandson, Jeremiah Wilson III; sisters, Ruby Smith, Ollie Motely, Louise Smith, and Ruth Adams; brothers, Earnest Cannon, James Arthur Cannon, and Raymond Cannon.
Grandma Della was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public school system. She worked for American Furniture Company for 35 years, as a cabinet maker, until she retired in 1990. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of and faithfully attended Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for 84 years. She spent many years traveling and ministering with her husband. Until her decline in health, Grandma Della loved reading, traveling, and going to the beach with her family.
Grandma Della is survived by her daughters, Lena Jamison (Lee) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Joan Stockton (Arthur) of Portsmouth, VA, Janice Hawkins (Delvon) of Littleton, NC, and Ethel Flood (Walter) of Martinsville, VA; sons, Robert Wilson, Jr. (Jo Ann) of Martinsville, VA, Roger Wilson (Judy) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Reverend William Wilson (Terri), and Jeremiah Wilson (Cathy) both of Martinsville, VA; sisters, Ann Taylor of Petersburg, VA, and Minnie Hawkins of Martinsville, VA; two sisters-in-law, Annie Wilson of Cascade, VA and Dorothy Cannon of Martinsville, VA; 21 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Grandma Della is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, at Norris Funeral Services – Martinsville, VA. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing 30 minutes prior to the service, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Cascade, Virginia. A burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, Virginia.
