Harvey Henry Peterson

Harvey Henry Peterson, 89, of Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, surrounded by his wife and son. Harvey was born on January 1, 1936, in Barhamsville, Virginia, to Hartvig and Effie Peterson. Harvey grew up in the Williamsburg area and, upon graduation from high school, enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following his four year tour, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business & Public Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute after which he remained in Blacksburg working for the college as an Assistant to the Dean of Students before starting a career in the property management business & real estate ownership. Harvey had many interests including skydiving, aviation, marksmanship, fishing, camping, word search puzzles, and woodworking. He enjoyed volunteering with the American Legion, supporting and advocating for veterans in his community. Harvey was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis J. Cody, and his adult daughter, Tiffany P. Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Peterson, his son Charles and daughter-in-law Sara, and five grandchildren. A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans organization (DAV.org).
