Lydia Laverne Argabright Brown

Lydia Laverne Argabright Brown (Laverne), 87, formerly of Rocky Mount, Virginia, passed away on August 23, 2025. She was born on February 4, 1938, in Roanoke County, Virginia, to the late Lacy Carl and Etta Mary Lou Fisher Argabright. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Rufus L. Brown; her brother, Charlie Lacy Argabright; and two sisters, Gloria Elaine Poage and Lois Marie Bryd. Laverne is survived by her son, Micheal Lynn Brown of Alexandria, Kentucky; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Ray and Kristie Brown of Vinton, Virginia; one granddaughter, Cassie; three grandsons, Wesley (Morgan), Stephen, and Aidan; two great-grandsons, Cooper and Porter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Claude and Vicki Brown of Hardy, Virginia; and sister-in-law, Loulie Belle Argabright of Roanoke, Virginia.

Laverne was a devoted Christian accepting Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age. She enjoyed reading, collecting P. Buckley Moss art, completing jigsaw puzzles and most of all spending time with family and friends often taking them for visits to the local Dairy Queen for Blizzards.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton, Virginia. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Joe Dillon officiating.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Harmony Assisted Living and Memory Care and the staff at Affinity Care of Roanoke who assisted with the care of Laverne over the last few years.
