Joyce Hawker Elliott

Joyce Hawker Elliott, 91, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025. Joyce was born in Halifax County, VA on October 29, 1933 to the late Mary Harrison Hawker and the late Howard Earl Hawker. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Fred Newton Elliott, whom she happily married on June 6, 1958.

Joyce was of the Christian Faith. She worked as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration for 25 years previous, working at the Alexandria, VA, Roanoke, VA, Richmond, VA, Winston-Salem, NC, before retiring at the Danville, VA office. She graduated as valedictorian from Dan River High School in 1951.

Joyce is survived by a daughter: Kelly and husband Mike of Spartanburg, SC; a son; Christopher Elliott and wife Judy of Glen Ridge, NJ; two grandsons; Jack Elliott and wife Annemarie and Tucker Elliott.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joyce was predeceased by a brother; Earl Wayne Hawker.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11:00am at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.
