Carlton Earl Oakes

Carlton Earl Oakes, 76, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025. Carlton was born on March 24, 1949 in Danville, VA to the late Thelma Talley Oakes and the late Avrid Bennett Oakes. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Peggy Carter Oakes.

Carlton was of the Christian Faith, and attended Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church. He worked for many years in Final Inspection at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company previous to his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, Carlton is survived by a daughter; Marianne Allen and Husband Chris of Chatham, VA; a son; Benny Ray Oakes and wife Jessica of Ruffin, NC; three grandchildren; Cody, Morgan, and Carter; and special neighbors; Jack and Connie Aaron.

In addition to his Parents, Carlton was predeceased by two brothers; Hartwell and Carol Oakes, and a sister; Judy Oakes.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 2:00pm at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA with Pastor Gerald Kelly officiating.
