Jewell Corinne Stone Wigginton

Jewell Corinne Stone Wigginton, 95, of King’s Grant Retirement Community, was called to her heavenly home on September 2, 2025.
Born December 6, 1929, in Fieldale, VA, Mrs. Wigginton was the daughter of the late Frank and Winsie Stone, and the step-daughter of the late Albert E. Stone. In addition to her parents and step-father, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Cecil Brown Wigginton; her sister Ethel Few and her brother Ralph Stone. Surviving her are devoted sons Mark B. Wigginton of Roanoke, VA, and David S. Wigginton and his wife Karen of Harrisonburg, VA; two grandchildren Matthew H. Wigginton and his wife Christine and Paige D. Wigginton and her wife Christine Harris; three great-grandchildren, Cecily and Adelaide Wigginton and Theo Wigginton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A life-long resident of Fieldale, VA, Mrs. Wigginton graduated from Fieldale High School and attended Perry Business School. She worked at Appalachian Power Company for several years before starting her most favorite role as a wife and mother.

On August 7, 1948, she married Cecil Brown Wigginton. Together they enjoyed vacationing with family, traveling, taking cruises with friends, and creating special memories with their grandchildren.

Mrs. Wigginton was a long-time member of Fieldale Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities. A servant of the Lord, she was known for being a kind, gentle and respectful person.

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the staff at King’s Grant for their compassionate care over the past eight years, and especially the past few weeks. Mrs. Wigginton enjoyed living at King’s Grant and cherished her friendships with residents and staff.

Funeral services will be held at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home (Bassett), on Thursday, September 11, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, with Bonnylee Witt, Chaplain, King’s Grant, officiating. Internment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park (Martinsville). The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Thursday, September 11 from 12 noon – 1:00 PM at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home.
