Kenneth (Kenny) Dale Mundy

Kenneth (Kenny) Dale Mundy was sent home to be with the lord after a short and sudden illness, on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Born July 21, 1956, to Richard Mundy and Barbara Mundy of Radford Virginia, he attended Radford High School, class of 1974. He received a Master Mechanics degree before graduating Virginia Tech in 1982, his father’s alma mater. He took his bachelor’s in business degree and went to work with Norfolk Southern. Always one with a passion for engineering, he was led to the Radford Arsenal where chemistry and engineering combined. For a brief time, he moved to King George, Virginia where he worked at Indian Head Naval Base. Kenny was called back to Radford before finally retiring, though, he continued to consult up until his last days.

During college he met Elizabeth Coles and they married in May of 1983. Together they welcomed their children with love and joy; Jamie Mundy (1988) and Jake Mundy (1999). He was a very active family man and took pride in his children and pets. Never to be one without the love of an animal there was always a dog or cat, maybe a fish tank.

In the last year of his life, he found his perfect mountain home in Lexington Virginia where he emersed himself in his love of nature; camping, hiking, cycling, and feeding wildlife. 

Kenneth Mundy lived a full and vast life filled with joy, laughter, insight, and a powerful mind. 

Preceded in death by Richard Mundy (Father), Barbara Mundy (Mother), Dennis “Gil” Nugent (Cousin), and Barbara Nugent (Aunt). Survived by Jamie Presgrave (Daughter), Jake Mundy (Son), Sadie Presgrave (Granddaughter) Elizabeth Mundy (former wife, forever family), Susan Martin (Sister), Grey Nugent (Cousin), Dennis Nugent (Uncle) and many other family and friends. Join us all September 27th 1:30pm – 3:30pm at Grove United Methodist Church in Radford, Va to celebrate the life of Kenneth Mundy. In lieu of flowers, donate to your local animal shelter or adopt an animal.
