Kenneth Samuel Moses

Kenneth S. Moses of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Salem VA Medical Center. He was 82 years old.

Born in Roanoke, Va., to the late Oscar White and Rettie Murril Horne Moses, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar White Moses, Jr. and Leonard Daniel Moses; sister, Connie Garman Alls; nieces, Valerie Kent and Yvonne Cunningham; and nephew, Michael Wayne Garman.

Kenneth is survived by special friend and mother of his children, Linda L. Moses; sons, Richard Allen Moses and Brian Lee Moses; brother, Donald Lee Moses (Joyce); granddaughters, Melinda “Mindy” Frantz (Clint), Angel Moses and Brooke Johnson; great-granddaughters, Kailyne Moses, Audree Frantz and Caroline Frantz; great-grandson, Wyatt Frantz; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special canine companion, Wrinkles.

Kenneth was a kind and loving man with a heart for serving his community. Those privileged to have known him in life knew him as strong-willed and hard-working. A veteran, he served his country faithfully for 28 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring. Kenneth was also a contractor by trade, with a special affinity for stonemasonry and a powerful work ethic. In addition to serving those around him via his work, he also invested in the youth of his community through his role as a Little League baseball coach. Kenneth also loved to play music, especially on his guitar, and he was a die-hard fan of Ford and UVA. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the 3rd floor nursing staff of the Salem VA Medical Center, for their dedicated care and comfort during such a difficult time.

A service honoring Kenneth’s life will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home. Friends are invited for a period of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Flowers are welcome.
