James Vernon Aliff

James Vernon Aliff, 86, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life Wednesday, September 11, 2025. He was born September 2, 1939, in West Virginia, to the late James Edward Aliff and Laura Emily Dalton Aliff.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his first wife of 11 years, Sally Ann Davis Aliff; daughters, Peggy Marie Aliff, Charlotte Ann Aliff; sons, James Aliff, Darrell Aliff; and sisters, Jane Elizabeth Farmer, Clara Bell Aliff, Lillian Mae Farmer, and Annie Marie Aliff.

James attended Drewry Mason High School and had a strong work ethic; working with dilegence in everyting he did. Some of the jobs that he found fulfilment in were at Standard Garments as a cutter, Nationwide Homes, and was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed driving the open roads through the 48 continental United States. As a mechanic, he found satisfaction in working on cars. He was also a dedicated employee at Burns Security as a secuity guard. In his spare time he enjoyed the companionship of his German Shepherd dogs.

He is survived by one sister, Laura Ruth Aliff; four nieces; one nephew; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

All services will be private. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of grief.
