Ronnie Ray Clifton
Mr. Ronnie Ray Clifton, age 83 of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Clifton was born on December 22, 1941, in Surry County, to the late Thomas Monroe Clifton and Rosa Effie Marion Clifton. Mr. Clifton proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ray was in the last class and the last person to receive a diploma from Franklin High School in 1959. He retired from Quality Oil in Winston-Salem where he operated a fuel transport vehicle then later prior to retirement, he worked as a dispatcher. He was a loving husband, companion, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving his companion of 19 years, Linda Goins Newman; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Sidney Clifton and Marlene; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Joyce Clifton; and four brothers, Roger Monroe Clifton, Roy Marion Clifton, Ralph James Clifton, and Reid Eugene Clifton. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Dr. Darrell Tate officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
