Grace Estelle Brooks Stroud
Grace Estelle Brooks Stroud died Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the age of 90. She was the only child of Jesse J. Brooks and Mattie Newby Brooks. She was known to her family and friends as “Boots”. She was born and raised in Danville, VA and attended and graduated from George Washington High and Danville Technical Schools. After graduation she was employed as the Deputy Clerk, and later, Clerk of Danville Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for 27 years.
In 1982 she married Warren Clifton Stroud and lived in Gloucester, VA and was then employed as Deputy Clerk of the General District Court of Gloucester County for 20 years. Upon retiring, she returned to the Danville area, making her home in Keeling, VA.
Estelle became a student of the Bible at the early age of eight years old, and was active in the Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Danville and in Gloucester.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Kenneth White of Prince George, VA and her numerous cousins.
Deceased are her husband and stepchildren, Michael Stroud and Angela White, and beloved grandson, Christopher Stroud.
Memorial services for Mrs. Stroud will be conducted Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Danville Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 118 Jenny Lane, with James White officiating. The family will receive friends at 4055 Mt. Tabor Road, Keeling, VA on Saturday, September 26, 2005.
