Mark Wayne Purdy

Mark Wayne Purdy, age 64 of Gretna, Virginia passed away Friday, September 19, 2025 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virgina. Mark was born on April 7, 1964 in Pittsylvania County to the late Sallie Brumfield Purdy and the late Alfred Purdy. He was married to Wanda Irby Purdy, who survives at the residence.

Mark proudly served our country in the US Army, was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was an electrical engineer at BWXT in Lynchburg, Virginia. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to everyone who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Purdy; one sister, Joyce P. Vinton; and one brother, Jimmy Purdy.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by one sister, Shirley Purdy.
