Monica Ann Whitlow Shively
Monica Ann Whitlow Shively, 56, of Collinsville, Virginia, was welcomed into her heavenly home Sunday, September 21, 2025. She was born April 5, 1969, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Betsy Glenwood Prillaman Whitlow and the late Claude Berkley Whitlow, Jr.
Monica was a woman of the Christian faith who loved her Savior and found joy in worshiping with the body of Christ at her church. Her faith was the foundation for her life and she knew the value of being with the Lord; teaching her family how to pray was vitally important to her. She was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School, class of 1987. Following graduation, she received her certification in cosmotology and spent over three decades providing a space for so many people to feel comfortable, loved, and special.
She inherited many wonderful traits from her daddy—her love for life and her great sense of humor graced everything she did. Monica was tender-hearted and was a mother to the motherless; she was always more concerned about others and made sure their needs were met before her own. In her leisure time Monica enjoyed camping and boating, and looked forward to creating memories with her family on their annual beach trips. Heaven is now a sweeter place; Monica even looked forward to being reunited with her dog, Ginger. She loved her family so much and enjoyed spending time with the grandbabies. Her loved ones will carry beautiful memories of the life she lived and the impact she made on this world.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Tony Wayne Shively; her daughter, Amanda Clark (Jon); and her grandchildren, Jaxon Clark and Josalee Clark.
All services will be private. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and kindness that has been shown during their time of grief.
