Linda Mcbride Akers

Linda McBride Akers, age 71, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Danville, Virginia, on September 15, 1954, to the late Leroy McBride and Betty Louise Hundley McBride. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Akers; sister, Joyce Eanes; and brother, Glen McBride. 

She was a valued member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount where she spent countless hours volunteering. As a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Linda made lifelong friends and touched many lives through her service, kindness, and generosity. 

Linda loved to bake, cook, and travel. She will be remembered as a supportive wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. Left to cherish the memories are her daughter, Arlinda Jones; son, Chad (Deborah) Akers; grandchildren, Samuel Jones, Chelsea Jones, Skylar (Kayleigh) Akers, and Landon Akers; great grandchildren, Wiley Fitzgerald and soon to be born Teagan Akers; and special fur babies, Charlie, Daisy, and Mosh. 

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Akers on September 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville, Virginia, with Pastor Mike Galimore officiating. The family receive friends one hour prior to the service.
