Herman Ted McFaden
Herman "Ted" McFaden, 91, of Evington, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Born on April 29, 1934, in Lynchburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late William H. McFaden and Mary Ellen McFaden.
Ted proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years, achieving the rank of Boatswain’s Mate Second Class. He began his service aboard the USS Wisconsin, served during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged from the USS Newport News.
Following his military service, Ted worked as a lineman for C & P Telephone Company.
He enjoyed many things throughout his life—fishing, the beach, especially the Outer Banks, and regular trips to Rodanthe, North Carolina. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, had a lifelong appreciation for trucks and John Deere tractors, and liked classic country music. He also enjoyed time at the Moose Lodge 714, where he was affectionately referred to as a “Mooser” by his family. A longtime resident of the Timberlake area, Ted had a special love for dogs, especially his beloved Huck, Hank, and Mollie.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynn B. McFaden; three children, Caryn Watson (Brian), Mark McFaden, and Scott McFaden; two stepchildren, Jenny Moore (Carnell) and Donnie Butler, Jr.; four grandchildren, Kent, Calli, McKinley, and DJ; four great-grandchildren, Avery, Oakleigh, Scarlett, and Charlee; and one sister, Shirley Beahm.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Mike Dodson officiating. The American Legion Post 16 will be presenting full military honors at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society in Campbell County, BARCC, at PO Box 46, Rustburg, VA 24588 or online at www.barccmeow.com.
