David "Pete" Cecil Stephens

DAVID (“PETE”) CECIL STEPHENS, 77, of Radford, VA, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 27, 1948 in White Gate, VA, the son of the late Floyd Cecil & Mollie Johnson Stephens.

Pete had an overwhelming zest for life.  He made everyday a good day and rarely had a bad day.  He was the life of the party and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh.  

He was a crane operator for H.T. Bowling Construction Company for over forty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Cecil & Mollie Catherine Johnson Stephens, his brother, Clay (“Rusty”) Freeman and his sister, Barbara Johnston.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Eleanor Perdue Stephens; his sons & daughter-in-law, Dale Stephens and Darren & Christy Stephens; his grandchildren, Nicole Mikels, Michael Nemkovich and Lauren Stephens; his great-grandchildren, Mikey Nemkovich, Avery Nemkovich and Will Merrix; his brothers, & sister-in-law, Joe & Dolores Freeman and Boyd Perdue; his sisters, Lois & Tommy Bales and Debbie & Eddie Quesenberry; his brother-in-law, Jerry Johnston; his sister-in-law, Darlene  & Sam Stafford;   his dear friend, Mike Kirk; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Terry Johnson Gregory officiating.  Burial will follow in Walkers Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for a time of visitation on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
