Wayne Lee Curry

March 25, 1944 - October 7, 2025

Wayne Lee Curry, 81, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. He was born March 25, 1944, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Orval Frances Curry and Shirley Louise Dyson Lemmond (husband, Roger).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Curry; daughter, Maria Lynne Moorfied; and granddaughter, Angelina June Morton Moorefield.

Wayne was of the Christian faith. His patriotism and loyalty to his country led him to proudly serve his country in the United States Army and National Guard Armory. Wayne was a decorated sergeant, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and M-16 Rifle Expert Badge. He was employed for many years as a high voltage electrician for the government in both department of the Army and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was highly skilled, always learning and evolving as a leader who demonstrated diligence as a supervisor and trainer of other high voltage linemen.

With an adventurous spirit, he lived life to the fullest, enjoying music, dancing, bowling, and even flying drones. He even held a certification as a ham radio operator. His larger-than-life personality made him a joy to be with. He made people comfortable with his quick wit and practical jokes, bringing laughter and smiles to everyone in the room, especially the ladies. Wayne loved animals and could always be found with Micky D., his sidekick poodle.

He is survived by his wife, Julieta Mosqueada Curry, of the Philippines; daughters, Kristina Moorefield (Cody), Gloria Curry, and Debbie Duley (David); stepsons, Brian Keel (Debbie), Chris Keel (Amy); stepdaughters Cheri Seery (Scott), LuLu Mosqueada; brother, Roger Dale Lemmond, Jr.; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Although his earthly presence is no longer here, his legacy of love, faith, and laughter will forever be held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and support shown during this time of grief.
