Glyn Keith Wooldridge

October 20, 1933 - October 8, 2025

Glyn Keith Wooldridge, 91, of Lynchburg, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Joyce Niedell (nee Rogers) Wooldridge.

Born on October 20, 1933, in Newcastle, Texas, Glyn was the son of the late Ernest F. Wooldridge and Emma Glyn (nee Hunter) Wooldridge. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred Wooldridge, and sister, Susan Holmes.

Glyn proudly served his country in the United States Army and credited the G. I. Bill for his education, including his Ph.D. from the University of Texas. In the early 1980s, Glyn left his teaching position at Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada) and moved to Lynchburg to help Dr. Jerry Falwell establish the Math department at Liberty Baptist College, now Liberty University. He retired as Chairman of the Math Department after more than 27 years of dedicated service. A man of deep faith, Glyn was a longtime member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Tyree “Ty” Wooldridge and his wife Kelly, of Daufuskie Island, SC; and two cherished granddaughters, Kim Rees (Daniel) and Beth Hofstadter (Alex) and a host of former students, faculty and friends who loved him dearly.

A service celebrating his life and faith will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Liberty University, the college he loved so much.
