Lucille Marion Evans

Mrs. Lucille Marion Evans, age 81 of Cana, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Evans was born on October 25, 1943, in Cana, Virginia to the late Lela Mae and William Henry Marion, Jr. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her children Danny and Julie Carpenter of Statesville, North Carolina, Jennifer and William Harold of Cana, Virginia, her grandchildren Danielle Carpenter, Quinn Fable and Dustin Vaughn, Kell Harold, and Alexis and Brandon Pearson, and great-grandson Cael Sinclair; brother James Edsel and Louise Marion, and sister-in-law Betty Marion. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband George Kellock Carpenter, sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal and Reuben McCraw, Edith and Harlie Jones; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Beverly Marion, and Jimmie Marion.

Lucille left a life-long legacy of caretaking for family, both young children and elderly relatives, community service volunteering her time and donating to charities that help those that she thought needed it the most, and never saying, “No,” when someone asked for help, guidance, mentorship, or prayers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Moody’s Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Moody’s Funeral Home in Mount Airy, North Carolina, with Rev. Jerry Marsh officiating. Internment will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Airy, North Carolina. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina for the loving support provided to Mrs. Evans. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Woltz Hospice Home, P.O. Box 326, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
