Allene Mcroberts Love

April 30, 1936 - October 19, 2025

Mrs. Allene McRoberts Love, age 89, of Mount Airy passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 19, 2025, after a lengthy battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis which she fought with strength and dignity. She was born in Buie, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Jonah Henderson and Gertrude Mae Copeland McRoberts. Mrs. Love retired from Russell Athletic after 40 years of combined service at Quality Mills and Cross Creek Apparel. Throughout the years she was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and VBS, and later, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Mount Airy, NC. Always kind with a gentle smile, Mrs. Love was an accomplished seamstress, often lending her skills to craft choir gowns, cheerleading outfits and clothing for friends and relatives. She was skilled in the kitchen, known for her pound cakes, perfect Southern biscuits, potato salad, and meatloaf. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling and won numerous trophies; after her husband passed, she enjoyed traveling to the beach with her family. Mrs. Love is survived by her daughter, Melissa Love and her husband, Chris Annunziata; her sister, Evie Riggs and her husband, Jimmy; her brothers, Irving McRoberts and his special friend, Jane Bottoms, Junior McRoberts and his wife, Kathy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sonny and Kaye Love; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dean Love, sisters, Geraldine McRoberts and Marie McRoberts Chilton. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice whose patience and warmth made a difficult time easier. The family is particularly grateful and thankful for the care and compassion of Nurse Cindy Beverly, CNAs Teresa Pack and Anita Wallace, and social worker Maria Bedsaul, all of whom brought comfort beyond measure. The Love family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. A service of celebration will follow in the Moody Chapel at 11:00 AM with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. She will be interned afterward at Skyline Memory Gardens next to her beloved husband, Bobby. The family welcomes both flowers and memorial donations which may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
