Lantha D. Looney

Lantha Looney 89 of Roanoke VA went home peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on October 21, 2025. Lantha was preceded in death by her dad and mom, Dave and Eliza Dales of Grundy VA and her 11 siblings. Surving are her 2 sons, Rob (Dee) Looney and Kip Looney; also her 3 grandchildren, Arin (Jeremy) Szuch, Shae (Maggie) Farmer and Adam (Melissa) Looney and her 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Tristan, Claire, June, Jalen and Jacob.

Lanthas first love was sharing the gospel and helping others. Her love for children was evident as well by her choice of careers as a teachers’ aid at Salem Intermediate School in the 1970s and a pediatric nurse at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where she worked for 23 years.

For many years she was an active member at Ridgewood Baptist church volunteering her time as a Sunday school teacher and Cub Scout den mom where countless neighborhood kids got to hear the gospel.

We want to thank all the hospice nurses and therapists who cared for her. Her nurse Megan Peterson for her loving tender care and hospice chaplain Drew Purcell for his visits, prayers and sharing in communion along with Jessie who brought her guitar and sang many hymns with her and Carla who helped with bathing and fixing her hair.

We’d also like to thank our family members for visiting and sitting with her and our pastor, Derek Lam, for coming to pray and share in communion. The many prayers from our friends and family were so much appreciated and deeply felt.

At her request, a private graveside service will be held with her family members.
