Helen Oakes Holley

Helen Oakes Holley, 94, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. Helen was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on May 25, 1931 to the late Louise Haskins Oakes and the late James David Oakes. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years, Mr. Floyd Allen Holley.

Helen was of the Christian Faith, and was a loving Homemaker to her entire family and all who knew her.

Helen is survived by a daughter; Peggy Edwards and husband James of Chatham, VA; two grandsons; Jason Holley and wife Ashley and Jimmy Edwards and wife Teri; and two great grandchildren; Gracie and Helen “Ellie” Holley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by a son; David Michael Holley; a sister; Juanita Edwards; and two brothers; Wyatt and Aaron Oakes.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 1:30pm at the Holley Family Cemetery, 18529 Franklin Turnpike, Callands VA 24530 with Pastor Larry Owen officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 6-7:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence of her grandson, Jason Holley, 2899 Mapleton Drive, Callands, VA 24530.
