William Lipes

Mr. William Allen Lipes, Jr., age 78, of Covington, died Saturday, October 25, 2025, at his residence.
Mr. Lipes was born June 21, 1947 in Alleghany County, the son of the late William Allen Lipes, Sr. and Faye Wright Lipes. He was employed as maintenance mechanic for Acadia for forty-three years before going to work as a mechanic for the Alleghany School Bus Garage for seven years. Mr. Lipes ran his own auto body shop, "Lipes Mechanic And Body Shop." In his spare time, William enjoyed fishing, camping and fostering stray feral cats. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Lipes is survived by his fiancée, Kristal Maloney of Covington; three children, Michelle Lipes Angle and husband, Bobby of Rich Patch, Kathy Lipes Hiner and husband, Shane of Covington; Justice Maloney and wife, Lizzy of Covington; grandchildren, Justin Lipes, Brandon Lipes, Ashley Ambrose, Kolby Hiner, Dakota Lipes and Shane "Bubba" Hiner; great grandchildren, Noah Lipes, Jackson Lipes, Annastasia Ambrose and Dakota Ambrose; sisters, Marie Carter of Hematite, Brenda Bennett of Falling Spring and Patty Tucker of Covington; and all of his wonderful cats.
Mr. Lipes was preceded in death by a son, William Allen Lipes, III and two brothers, Donnie Lipes and Warren Ray Lipes.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2025, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Hiner officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until time of service.
