Anna Mae Furrow Bowman
Anna Mae Bowman, 95, passed away on October 25, 2025, at her residence in Catawba, Va. surrounded by her family.
Anna was born on May 20, 1930, in Fayetteville, WV to parents James Shelbert and Geraldine Emaline Martin Furrow. She was a Seamstress by trade for many years. Anna was known for working multiple jobs to be sure her family was provided for. When not at work, Anna enjoyed preparing meals for family and guests. She absolutely loved to cook! She was always concerned for others above herself; her family being her priority under God. Church attendance with her family was a high priority.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Carl S. Bowman; brothers, James Donald Furrow and Randel Furrow; sisters, Exie Underwood, Jacqueline Welch, Shirley Pandelis, and Barbara James.
Anna is survived by her children, Carolyn McDaniel, Barbara Hite (Roger), Sheila Underwood (Roger), William Bowman, and Troy Bowman (Jean); siblings, William Furrow, Janet Smith, Linda Garret, and Bonnie Martin; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family welcomes friends for a period of visitation on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from the hours of 2 until 3 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Chapel, in Salem. Funeral services will begin directly following starting at 3 p.m. Rev. Ben Lockhart will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for the tremendous care given to Ms. Bowman and her family during a time it was most needed.
