Carl "Pete" Eugene McKinney

Carl "Pete" Eugene McKinney, Jr., 75, of Concord, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, at his residence.

Born on November 3, 1949, in Lynchburg, he was the son of Mattie Pearl Witt. He was a member of Eastbrook Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Christine Ward McKinney.

Pete was the owner and operator of McKinney's Garage in Concord, VA. In his free time, he enjoyed catfishing and attending his grandchildren’s baseball games. He loved the beach and always made sure to plan a family trip each year.

He is survived by a daughter, Cindy Dooley; two brothers, Paul McKinney (Angela) and William G. Hanes; two grandsons, Travis Thornton and his wife Abbie, and Preston Dooley; two great grandsons, Easton Thornton and Knox Thornton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Mount Olivet Church Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Walkup officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
