Roger Dale Sisson

June 13, 1956 - October 26, 2025

Roger “Shorty” Sisson, 69 of Salem, Va, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Wednesday, June 13, 1956, to the late Clarance Arthur Sisson and Gladys Sherrard Sisson.

Roger "Shorty" Sisson was a devoted husband to Catherine for 46 years and a dedicated father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He grew up in East Bottom, where he formed many lasting friendships and shared countless stories. After graduating, Roger enlisted in the United States Army, where he honed his skills and earned the sharpshooter and hand grenade badges, as well as the National Defense Service Medal.

Shorty cherished his time with family and loved cooking delicious meals for them. He also enjoyed fishing, watching The Andy Griffith Show, as well as both baseball and football. Additionally, he looked forward to his weekly cribbage games with Uncle Roy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Catherine Sisson; their children, Cristin Sisson and Carrie Coleman (and her husband, Josh); his sister, Judith Eastridge; grandchildren, Jonathan Weaver, Jadakiss Finney, and Cooper Coleman; nephews Chris Deweese (and his wife, Debbie) and Roger Deweese (and his wife, Susan); niece Samantha Morris (and her boyfriend, Greg); and great-nieces and nephews, including Travis, Trevor (and his wife, Brittany), Kamrhem, Eithen, Dustin, Alexis, David, and Stacey; brother-in-law Paul Stewart; sister-in-law, Patsy Stewart; nephews Jacob Stewart and Shawn Stewart. He also leaves behind special friends Dewayne Wheeling and Brad Mullins.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for their exceptional care of Roger. They also appreciate the selfless Salem EMT staff for their assistance when he fell, as well as Aunt Joyce and Uncle Roy for always being there.

Friends are welcome to visit the family at College Lutheran Church in Salem on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with a service immediately following. Interment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
