Mrs. Compton was born in Tazewell County, VA and is survived by her sister Kathy Barbour Ferguson of Elizabethton, TN; three children: son Bart (Bev) Compton of Chesapeake, VA, daughter Brenda (John) Compton Lech of Greensboro, NC, and son Aaron (Dawn) Compton of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, granddaughter Sarah (Tom) Compton Wright, grandsons Tucker, Liam, David and Luke; great-grandsons Cooper and Mason; and many other loving relatives. Mrs. Compton enjoyed being a bookkeeper from her late teenage years until her retirement. She took great pride in her work with numbers. Mrs. Compton’s daughter thinks her mother is the most selfless person she’s ever known. Bart agrees.
A special thank you to the WhiteStone Community in Greensboro for their loving care and support over the past 14 years. The amazing people at WhiteStone not only took care of Ruth, but loved and supported Ruth’s husband Ray and their family members.
