Kenneth Lee Carter

March 8, 1947 - November 2, 2025

On Sunday November 1, 2025, Kenneth Lee Carter II (Tall Pop Pops and Boy Gaga) of Vinton, VA, died peacefully at home.

He was a Deacon, Sunday School director, and lifetime member of Garden City Baptist Church. He loved any kind of sport involving a ball. He loved road trips to be with his children and grandchildren. He loved being with people, forever teasing, especially children about their numbers and colors. He graduated from Jefferson Senior High School in 1965 and Emory and Henry College in 1970. 

He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth Lee Carter and Lois Nunley Carter. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Andrews Carter of Vinton. Also surviving are his son, Scott (Maryann) Carter of Gainesville, VA, and Kristi Turner (John) of Charleston, SC. His stars in the sky are his granddaughters, Emily Turner of Charleston, SC, Sadie Turner of Washington DC, Gabrielle Carter, Mikayla Carter, and Isabella Carter all of Gainesville, VA. He also claims a grandson/granddoggie, Cooper, of Charleston, SC. Also surviving are his sister Vickie Myers (Jim) of Jonesville, VA, and aunt Edna McCarty of Vinton, VA, nieces Dawn Myers, Jonesville, VA, and Melissa Runyon (Ken) of Grundy, VA. Officiating will be Ministers Jim Myers and Ken Runyon.

Visitation will be at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton on Wednesday, November 5 from 6-8pm. Funeral service will be on Thursday, November 6

at 11am at Lotz Funeral Home in Vinton and burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
