Melvin Ray Easter

Mr. Melvin Ray Easter, age 69 of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Easter was born on July 3, 1956, in Deschutes County, Oregon to the late Homer and Hazel Smith Easter. Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired as a specialist. He was a loving brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. Melvin enjoyed playing music with his friends and could literally play any instrument with strings. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his niece, Crystal and Anthony Kirsch and her family; three sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Easter Patrick and Allen, Rita Easter, Teresa Easter and Ronnie McMillian; brothers, Bobby Easter and Mary Hooker, Thomas Easter. Mr. Easter was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Arlis Thomas and Reverend Joe Smith officiating. A private interment will held at a later date. Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
