John Alvin Anouilh
John Anouilh passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2025, in Martinsville, Virginia, at the age of 86. Born on September 28, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, John lived a life rich in travel, laughter, and red beans and rice (pork chop required—no exceptions).
He spent decades in the textile industry, rising through the ranks at Sale Knitting, aka Tultex. After retiring, John pivoted to technology, mastering computer skills at Patrick Henry Community College and generously mentoring others in both tech and life. If you needed advice, a pep talk, or just someone to listen while you figured it out yourself, John was your guy. A proud graduate of Georgia Tech, John was a triple-threat athlete in his youth (baseball, basketball, and football) down in Jackson, Mississippi. He was a loyal patron of every local restaurant within a 10-mile radius, and a man who believed that good food, good company, and a good story were the cornerstones of a good life.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda (2015), and his parents, John and Yvonne Anouilh. He is survived by his children Jeff (Friede), Katie (Charlie), and Christy (Brian); his grandchildren Sarah, Audrey, and Jack; and his brother Rod (Pam). He also leaves behind countless friends, fellow golfers at Forest Park Country Club, and waitstaff who knew his order before he sat down. He was a gracious greeter, a generous tipper, and a man who never met a stranger.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of mentorship, kindness, and maybe a round of golf in John’s honor—ideally followed by a hearty meal. A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Virginia, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:00pm with a celebration of life reception immediately following, location to be determined.
Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, is serving the Anouilh family. Online condolences can be made at www.norrisfuneral.com.
