Larry Darnell Witcher

October 29, 1951 - November 10, 2025

Larry Darnell Witcher, 74, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 at SOVAH Health Hospital. Larry was born on October 29, 1951 in Pittsylvania County, VA.

Larry was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the Union Hall Baptist Church in Chatham, VA. He worked for the Lorillard Tobacco Company (ITG) for 45 ½ years previous to his retirement. He was also a past member of the Tunstall Fire Department where he held the title of Lieutenant for a couple years. Larry created many friendships with his co-workers and people in his community. He was an avid rabbit hunter until his deline in health.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Nonie and Melvin Witcher, one sister, Cora Alexander, one brother, Melvin Witcher, and one grand-daughter LaShaunta Witcher.

Larry is survived by the love of his life, Jacqueline Witcher; one daughter; Quintara Jones and husband Steven; one son; Laron Witcher and his special friend Tia Yancey; five sisters; Eva (Willie) Barksdale, Teressa Smith, Vanessa Adams, Valerie Witcher all of Danville, VA, and Viola Jefferson of Augusta, GA; two brothers; James Witcher of Dallas, TX and Recus Carter of Glen Burnie, MD; six grandchildren; Jalen Tucker and Fiancé Courtney Miller, Kameryn Tucker, Lathan Witcher, T-Keya Stone, Tamia Jones and Diairion Davis; two great grandchildren A’Laysiah Adkins and Courtlyn Tucker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 12:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Robert Divins presiding. Interment will follow at Tarpley’s Chapel Baptist Church, 16156 Mt. Cross Road, Dry Fork, VA 24549. A visitation will be held previous to the service on the same day from 11:00am-12:00noon, also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence.
