Linda Jean Harding

June 14, 1953 - November 10, 2025

Linda Jean Pittman Harding, age 72, of Goode, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, November 10, 2025. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Praise and Worship ushered her into the presence of God on her last day here on earth, the last thing she heard was her son Wayne listing all of her family members that loved her so much!

Born in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., Linda was the beloved daughter of the late Anna Bess Saunders Truesdell and Samuel Rudolph Pittman. From an early age, Linda’s kind heart, gentle spirit, and deep compassion for others were evident to all who knew her. She truly had a servants heart.

In 1970, Linda met the love of her life, Gary Harding, while in high school. The two were married a year later, in 1971, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and love.

Throughout her life, Linda held many jobs, but her greatest joy came from serving others as a caregiver to the elderly. She approached her work with patience, kindness, and a sincere desire to bring comfort to those in her care.

Linda truly loved her family and extended family. Some of her greatest joys in life were her granddaughters and great-granddaughter, baking and cooking for others, reading a good book, and spending time surrounded by family and friends. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit filled every room she entered.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Gary Harding; her loving son, Wayne Harding (Gloria); two cherished granddaughters, Morgan Baumstark (Luke) and Ava Harding; and her precious great-granddaughter, Elenor Oakley Baumstark. She is also survived by her sister, Shelby Brooks (Dean); her brother, Garland Pittman; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her family rejoices in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Psalm 23 really spoke to Linda; we sang this over her on her last day.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held May 30th, 2026, at 12:00 pm at her son’s farm in Goode, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bedford County Library System Foundation or to the Bedford Human Society in her memory.
