Peggy Allen Meade

December 12, 1940 - November 19, 2025

Peggy Allen Meade, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at her residence.

Born in Richmond on December 12, 1940, Peggy was the daughter of the late Gilmore Allen, Sr., and Janie Ruth Conner Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Ronald Spencer Meade; and three siblings, Gilmore Allen, Jr., Georgia Fisackerly, and Leonard Crute.

Peggy’s parents passed away when she was a young child, and she was lovingly raised by Clara Seamster, who was a caregiver to many children. Among them was Jimmy Watts, whom Peggy cherished as a brother throughout her life, as Peggy and Jimmy were the only children who lived with Ms. Seamster and were raised as siblings. Peggy grew up in the South Boston area and graduated from Halifax County High School, and later went on to be a 1963

graduate of the Lynchburg General School of Nursing, Peggy dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the nursing profession. She spent the majority of her 47-year career as a registered nurse with Lynchburg General Hospital/Centra Health, as well as training at UVA as a respiratory therapist and teaching the field of respiratory to college students at CVCC.

She faithfully served her patients, and their families, and her community. Known for her steady compassion, gentle spirit, and unwavering work ethic, Peggy found great purpose in caring for others. Her calling as a nurse was not simply a career—it was the truest expression of her heart.

Peggy was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir for several years. She loved to fellowship with other believers, whether it was with her choir, Ladies Bible Studies or events with the 50 plus ministry. She loved people deeply, and her church family held a special place in her life. To all who knew her, Peggy was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and a woman whose kindness touched countless lives.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Moore (Mickey), her son, John Meade; and her two grandchildren, Christopher Moore (Aubrianah) and Faith Moore (Tyler); and her great-grand children, Milo, Mazie and Magnolia.

A service celebrating Peggy’s life and faith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Thomas Road Baptist Church (trbc.org).
